Building assessments underway.
(NEW ORLEANS – Sept. 12, 2024) – In the aftermath of Hurricane Francine, NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) is conducting thorough assessments of all school facilities to evaluate their condition and determine the next steps for recovery.
Once the full extent of building conditions is known, NOLA-PS, in collaboration with school leaders, will finalize reopening plans.
Key factors influencing the decision to reopen include Entergy's progress in restoring power, the needs of our school communities, and the availability of essential city services. Families and staff can expect an update regarding the resumption of classes after 4 p.m. today.
We encourage everyone to stay safe and monitor official city announcements for the latest updates. NOLA-PS will continue to share all post-storm information through its website and social media channels.
