The Renewal Process
The renewal process is a routine evaluation during the last year of a charter school’s contract to see if the school will receive another contract to continue operating in the future. The renewal process is based on a school’s SPRI (School Performance Renewal Index) and what kind of growth it made with its students. The SPRI uses the same components that the state uses for its School Performance Scores (SPS scores) but weights the components differently so that growth has greater importance. For most schools, the SPRI looks at the last two years of a school’s SPS data. If a school is in its first contract, it is the better of either the most recent year’s data or the average of its two most recent years’ data. A school’s financial and organizational performance can also impact renewal.
All members of the community are welcome to attend a meeting to learn more about the renewal process that all charter schools must undergo when their contracts are nearing their end. Information on the meetings can be found below:

Renewal Date Lookup
Use the tool below to find your school’s contract end date. Contracts are considered for renewal the fall before they end (for example, a contract ending June 30, 2026 would be up for renewal in the 2025–26 school year).
